 What is a Static Transfer Switch?
 The Static Transfer Switch is a fast-switching power conversion device that can transfer to the backup power supply immediately and seamlessly in case of power failure to ensure continuous operation of the electricity system.  Therefore, it is also called “the silent defender” of the power infrastructure.

 How does it work?
The operation principle behind Static Transfer Switches is rather simple.  When there is no fault with utility mains feeds, STSs feed load directly from them.  But as soon as any trouble occurs either on one or both sides of utility mains feeds, STS will change to alternative input within milliseconds thereby ensuring uninterrupted power supply without affecting user experience because this switchover happens too fast for users to notice any blackout even if it lasts for milliseconds.

 Where can we use them?
These devices are commonly employed at places where uninterrupted reliable electric power supply is needed such as data centers, hospitals or factories among others because even a momentary interruption can have catastrophic consequences in these facilities hence static transfer switches become very critical here.
